Overview of the development of Chinese smart meter

The advancing smart grid construction in China was spurred the constant growth of smart meter demand. In 09, SGCC started the centralized bidding for electric meter, and by the end of 13, 370 million smart meters had been accumulatively installed in China.

In addition to meeting the domestic demand, the Chinese smart meter is also exported to more than 130 countries and regions. In 13, the export volume of Chinese smart meter reached 608,000 units with the year-on-year growth of 17.1%. Among them, 37.7% were exported to Germany, 17.3% exported to Viet Nam, and 8% exported to New Zealand.

The year of 15 is the last year of the comprehensive construction phase of China Strong Smart Grid, the figure of smart meter is expected to hit 500 million in 15.
